I know very little about fabric. I have a light weight drappy fabric. I don't know what kind but I know it isn't cotton. I want to make a two piece dress. Would it be better to make a slinky skirt or a straight skirt?

Thanks Pat

Hi, Pat,
I'm no expert, but I recommend that you (1) search the Internet for "fabric burn test" and do a burn test to see what your fiber content probably is; (2) launder it to see how it survives (IFF the burn test and general feel leads you to believe it's washable); (3) assess the tightness of the weave: does it seem likely to stretch or bag? and (4) if the answer is yes, choose a slinky skirt. With a lightweight, drapey fabric, I'd probably go with slinky anyway.

I have washed it and it seems to be a tight weave. Thanks
