Save Catalog Style, Save Summary & Save Pattern
Save Catalog Style—This saves the design choices to the Style Catalog that is in the data base. It does not save the actual pattern you have drafted. You can’t use Windows Explorer to find these files.
A style saved to the Catalog may be opened in any measurement chart. It will draft to the measurements in the chart, but it will not use the default settings for that chart. It opens with the same settings that were saved with the style originally.
To save your style settings go to File—Save Catalog Style. Give the style a name and save. It saves with your summary sheet and the front and back sketches.
To add pictures or other information to your Saved Style, click on Front View, Back View, Swatch or Notes. Go to Open at the bottom of the screen and browse to the pictures you want to save and select it.
You may scan or take a pictures of your fabric and add to the Swatch screen. You may also put a side view or any other information you want on that screen.
In the Notes Screen, type any information you want about the pattern.
Save your style. You may edit this information later by going to Open Style Catalog, selecting your style. Click on the tabs and add pictures or notes.
To open your style go to Open Style Catalog. Click on the style you want to view.
To open the style in Style Editor click on Open on the left side bar.
Save Summary - To save a text list of your setting use the Save Summary. It saves to PMBoutique4 - StyleSheets. You may open this in wordpad or in Word. To open in word set your file type to Rich Text.
Save Pattern—To save a pattern to open in Pattern Editor or Yardage Calculator, go to File - Save Pattern or the Save Icon.
You will see choices to Save Pattern and Save Summary. The Summary Sheet save defaults to PMBoutique4—StyleSheets. You may direct it to another folder if desired.
Save Pattern saves to any folder you direct it to. There is a folder in PMBoutique4 called Patterns for you to save your pattern to. You may put sub folders in the Patterns folder.
A Saved Pattern can only be opened in PE or YC. It is a finshed design and no longer part of the Style Editor. Changes made in PE are finished products. They do not open in the Style Editor.
Three files are saved. The pattern, the front view sketch and the back view sketch.
Open Pattern—A saved pattern may only be opened in PE or YC. Open PE. Click on Open and browse to where you saved your pattern and click on it to open. To add additional patterns in PE or YC use Merge.
Find Patterns—If you don’t remember where you saved a pattern use the Find Tab that is on the Open Pattern box in PE. You may also delete saved patterns from the Find Tab.
A Hint from Claudia U.
This is what I do to condense most of the information on the Style/Design Sheet on to a single page, which is my preferred format for reviewing, printing and storing.
After designing my garment in PMB, I save the Style Sheet, but I don’t print it. Instead, I open it in Microsoft Word. I hit control-A to “Select All” and then select “FormatàColumnsàTwo.” This puts all the written information, plus the front sketch of my garment, on a single page in column format. This is typically all I need, so I just print out that page.
