Box Jacket

The Box jacket is a short dartless jacket.

Length choices are waist length to 4 inches below the waist.

The hemline shape my be straight or rounded.

This box jacket was designed by Maryann.

Settings: Zipper front. She did not use a zipper. This option creates a front that just meets and does not overlap. The jacket drafts at the longest length setting for the Box Jacket. She rounded the neck in Pattern Editor. This may also be done by hand.

The simple line of the jacket show off the georgous fabric. The edge is finished with a binding.

Other design options for a short "box like" jacket.

The Classic Jacket may be drafted a short length. One option is to select no darts for the front, but keep the back shoulder dart. A small back shoulder dart may be eased into the shoulder seam. This option does not extend the shoulder point.

Curvy Girls need darts. The Classic Jacket with dart options can be drafted a short length to give the look of a box jacket.
