Extending the Shoulder Point

The Shoulder Point in Settings can be used to extend the shoulders.

It is important you use this setting with the red sloper underlay on to make sure you are getting enough back width.

Extending the shoulder takes away the back shoulder dart.

Extended Shoulder

The shoulders need to be extended enough to equal the back width in the sloper.

The amount of extension depends on the width of the back shoulder dart. The wider the dart the more you will need to extend the shoulder point to get the full back width.

You may extend further is desired.

Extending the shoulder point changes the cap on the sleeve.

Sleeve Cap Height

The cap height becomes less and the shape of the sleeve cap flatter.

The ease is also reduced.

The higher cap is designed to ease the cap over the ball of the shoulder. Once the shoulder seams drops down the arm the shape needs to be flatter. A flatter cap gives a less fitted sleeve and more arm movement.
