Hi all! I am going to do some swimsuit sewing, and although I have been sewing for a lot of years, I have never messed with swimwear. I am wondering, should I put ball point needles in my serger, or just use them when I do the final stitching with my other machine? I will do the elastic with my serger.

i don't usually change the needles in my serger but definitely for the sewing machine.

since you haven't worked with swimwear fabrics before, i strongly recommend you save all your scraps and do tests on each machine with various needles and settings until you get a result you are happy with.

Ball point needles in the zig-zag for sure. But I have never had to use them in the sergers. I strongly reccomend the 3/8" rubber swimsuit elastic for all lycra wear. It can be ordered from Greenberg & Hammer.

I make all my swinwear. Not to mention leotards for the dance productions. It's not really that hard, and lycra is very forgiving. Good luck!
