Hi everyone.
I have a very basic question that I can not find the answer in the user guide.

On the pattern pieces that are printed, there are square markings and circle markings. I am putting together my dress sloper and have got to the point of the sleeves but I don't know which way round they go. Which is the front and which is the back?

Many thanks

The square is the front and circle is the back - there should be corresponding markings on the bodice pieces.

Thank you Rosemary. Now I can carry on. I'll write it on the front of the user guide.

anna it should be obvious when you look at the bodice pieces--just match the shapes on the sleeve cap to the shapes on the armscye.

I liked the tip someone gave here one time:  "F" is square so the square goes on the Front, "B" is rounded so the circle goes on the Back.

Another thing to remember is that properly drafted patterns are made for the right side of the body.  So if you don't flip your pattern piece before printing, you can hold the sleeve pattern up to your right arm to see which is the front.

I don't use notches much EXCEPT I still cut the traditional single and double notches for the armhole and bodice including one at the top of the sleeve.  'Cause even someone as experienced at me can still put a sleeve in backwards or welt pockets on the pants back pieces...

Yes they can put it in backwards, especially if they flip when printing - actually I got it in and it looks OK.
