The style sheet prints out on 4 pages in columns.

Lisa -- is there anything you can do to condense this?

I notice there are 3 choices for printing the style sheet but they look the same to me.

I don't really want to go into Word to reformat the style sheet.

What I do is use scissors and scotch tape and get everything on 2 pages. I put the pages back to back in a plastic sleeve with a fabric swatch. Easy reference for future styles.

There is nothing I can do in the program. The three choices - RTF, PDF, and DOC - will all create the same document style in one long column. I don't have the ability to make it two columns instead of one long column in code because I have no idea where the page breaks will be. You will have to reformat it in Word if you want to condense it. That is why I added the RTF and DOCX file formats.

it was easy to do in v5...I haven't figured out how to condense it in version 6 ----wastes a lot of paper!

It should be the same process in v6. I did not change the file format.

In V6, the line and between-paragraph spacing is bigger than in V5. There is more information on the page and more open space. It is easier to read. The best you can do with Word reformat of V6 summary is two pages, two columns. Does waste some paper. In V5, everything fit neatly on one page, two columns. I use the extra space for pencil notes as I sew.

It looks like the summary when brought into a PE screen is permanently GROUPED. I've tried several times to UNGROUP with no success. I almost always bring the summary into the PE screen with the pattern, so it is always saved. In V5 it was easy to delete stuff from the import, but with no way to ungroup, no more. Wish list?

I checked v6 against v5 and they import the summary exactly the same. The summary is not "grouped". Its one long block of text. Text in PE has always worked this way. Whatever text is placed onto the drawing screen from the Text Editor will act as one block of text whether you type it in, import it, or copy and paste it. Once its been placed on the screen with the patterns, the lines of text cannot be edited directly. You have to edit in the Text Editor.

When you import it into the Text Editor or copy and paste into the Text Editor, you can still add, edit, and delete text on the Text Editor screen. V6 works no differently from v5 in this respect. You can also copy and paste smaller chunks of the summary if you want to move blocks of text independently. To edit text after its been placed on the drawing screen, select and choose TE from the Create menu. The block will open in the Text Editor and can be edited as desired. This is how the Text Editor has always worked.

thanks Lisa...I'll give that a try. PMB is so full of things to explore and my computer skills need a lot of help. I didn't even know text editor existed! I' love to get the summary down to one page again.

How do I get to the text editor?
I have never used it to edit the summary sheet but this looks like it could be handy.

Its just the Text tool in Pattern Editor. Its always been there. Click on the Create menu and click on Text.

Will check it out. Thanks.
I tried editing the style sheet in Word with 2 columns. Looked great. I saved it.
But it doesn't change the file in PMK. Boo. Don't really know where it was saved to but will experiment more this weekend.

I just tried to print out a summary in v6 on my new win 10 system. I couldn't get it to format, so I came here to see tips...I' forgotten this thread....off to play with the TE which I have never used! I hope it works!

OK, I give up....where does the text editor live? I can't find it. I also can't open summaries from inside of PE...only pictures and images...I can open the rtf and docx files from windows explorer though. Is the TE supposed to be on the settings page...there are a couple of text functions, but I can't find TE inside of it. Is this a problem with the program or my skills?

The Text Editor (TE) is only available in Pattern Editor as it has always been. It is not in the Style Editor and never has been. You cannot "open" summaries in PE and never could. That has not changed in v6. If you want to add the summary info to a PE drawing, you have to copy and paste or import it from the RTF or DOCX document into the Text Editor (TE) in PE. I explain this process earlier in this thread. Review the PE documentation on the Text (TE) tool for more details.

Hi Karen, I print from Word, always have. If you use that program, go to Computer/Local disc/PMBoutique 6/ summaries. Quick and easy. If you already know all this please disregard.  But that gives me the option of putting two column on one page.

Coopie

PS you do have to save the summary in a format Word recognizes.  C.

Thanks Coopie....I've been playing with it all afternoon...I think it's changed. I now have Word 2016 on a win 10 system and it's different. I think I just don't know the program....I can get 2 columns, but can't seem to move the boxes around or text around like I used to. I haven't given up yet....I did finally find TE...it's in PE, but I guess I won't be using it to print the summary because I want to print that in Word. I used to be able to get it all on one page, and I just don't think that is possible anymore or I haven't found the secret to it.
