Hello,

I wanted to make a light summer bathrobe, so I splurged on some Martha Pullen Dotted Swiss.  I made the pattern by starting with a Sheath, Dolman style, Rounded, Surplice closure, Surplice front neckline, Jewel back neckline, armhole depth 2, fitted side seam shape, flare of 1, short sleeves, sleeve underarm length 2, sleeve hem circumference 15, ease 2.5, .75, 2., knee length.  I used 0 seam allowances.  Then I took it into PE and shortened the sleeves another 4.5" and made a rectangle for the waist sash, then added 5/8" seam allowances on the shoulder seams and side seams only.

This was a super simple design but I'm so pleased with it because it came out exactly the way I wanted it to.  I used french seams for the shoulder and side seams, then I serged around all the other edges and applied lace on top of the finished edge.

Here's a link to my album:

So pretty! It's hard to beat simple and elegant isn't it? Thanks for the .las file. I love to see the pattern work. I really don't think the dolman is used enough.

Beautiful robe Thistles. Last winter I used the dolman for the first time. I loved it and have used it often since.

Thanks for the kind comments!  It's nice to have something so simple be so satisfying.  I was surprised how much I liked the Dolman draft, too.  I can visualize using it for all kinds of things now.
