I have been hesitant to make some yoke-backed jeans, because the Gloria Vanderbilt "Amanda" style fits me so well. However, they no longer seem to make the particular color I need for my work pants, which take a lot of abuse on home inspections. So I dove in and made a pair.

These are a "wearable muslin", and I couldn't be happier with them. I just had to make one small tweak: take about 2 inches out of the center back seam because it gapped. But that was it! Otherwise they were perfect. Now I have to wash some green fabric and start churning out work pants. Yippee!

They fit really well. I have made jeans for my husband and am waiting for him too stand still long enough to do the hems! Definitely inspired to make some myself now. I really enjoyed doing the jeans details when I made my husband's pair such as inside leg welt seam and patterned top-stitching on the back pockets.

Looking good!

For my rounded belly and large back side, I drafted, but did not sew, front darts and then doubled the back darts to get rid of the gap-osis. Maybe darts in back would help you. Though I did "trousers", not the yoked jeans.

These jeans are a great fit! Mine turned out rather loose, using my measurements. Did you alter ease or crotch depth - I too took in the back to get rid of the gap, but they are bagging at the front.
