I've been wanting an insulated jacket for a while; even had all the fabric to make one sitting in my sewing room for at least a year. Finally, at last weekend's Northern Virginia ASG Sewing Retreat, I got the chance to make it. And I love how it came out!

I used the classic jacket, jewel neck, convertible collar, set-in tapered sleeve. Ended up having to make a few alterations to the pattern once I got the muslin sewed up; I really do take it for granted just how easy it is to alter the patterns inside PMB!! Dropping the armhole an inch meant having to manually alter the sleeve. Luckily I had help, and it worked out great.

More pictures and details (including settings) on my blog!

Another winner Welmoed! And yes we are spoiled by PMB. But there are always alterations and slight adjustments to be made. Even to the best of pattern work.  Best of both worlds I say!

Great job Welmoed. Couple of questions, what setting did you change to get the convertible collar to extend to the front edge of jacket? I too would like the instructions for creating the pockets.

Oh boy, I don't remember what I did. I don't recall changing anything from the defaults of the convertible collar. According to my style sheet, here are the collar settings:
Collar Style: Convertible
Collar Styleline: Straight
Collar Point Width: 2
Collar Point Spread: -2
Collar Width: 2.5
Collar Band: No

The only thing I was careful about was lining up the notch on the collar with the CF mark on the bodice.

I'll write up instructions on doing the pockets and post them on my blog in a few days.

Welmoed, I am in awe! It would have taken me a month to make that....not including the time spent second-guessing my choices and hesitation in applying those snaps just so.
