I have some light to mid weight cotton lace with slight stretch (5" to almost 6") and a light to mid weight cotton jersey with moderate stretch(5" stretches to 7"). Would it be best to underline the lace with the jersey then construct a tee or line the lace by attaching to the jersey at the neckline and maybe shoulders and armholes. It has been so many years since I lined a dress or top, I can't remember how. I've seen a lot of tops with lace in RTW this season and want to make one.

I have some beautiful lace that I plan to make a long sleeved t-shirt with. I have some lining material that is a bit stretchy. I am going to make a camisole top from this to wear under the lace top.

I think I would go with attaching the lining at the shoulders. It would allow the lace to move more naturally. All the ready to wear looks require a separate camisol be worn, so you will buy two tops instead of one.

I've seen RTW on people and in stores made a variety of ways. Many are made as one, but I'm worried that my lace and jersey are not compatible for that. A previous try didn't work as the lace became smaller after it was cut out even though I used the same pattern.
