How do we open PE files which are emailed to us from someone else?

I created a couple of quilt pattern pieces for a friend who has PMB, and I attached the file in an email and sent it to her from my gmail account.  I've never sent a PE file before by email, so I went to my sent mail and pulled it up and then clicked on the file to download it.  It's already on my computer of course, so I'm not sure if I'm seeing the same thing that she will see when she clicks on the file to Open or Save.  When I clicked on Open, then it brought me to PE, but the file didn't open and when I clicked to save, then the same thing occurred.

She is not familiar with Pattern Editor, so I want to make this as easy as possible for her.

I've attached the file to this message too.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Jill

If she doesn't have PE she won't be able to open it. But, if you save it as a .jpg then she will be able to see the file as a picture.
