I went to take Chloe the jacket with gussets that I made for her.
You know, when one leaves her man on his own, one never knows, what the man will do. My husband decided to have a stroke while trying to leave for work this morning and sat in the cold unconscious for 3-4 hours till workmen found him. He is gravely ill. Had surgery this evening and we do not know the extent of the brain damage yet. Please remember him in your prayers. It will be touch and go.

I was so sorry to hear about this. I hope you have family and close friends around you and your husband, now. There can be no better source of love and support in time of need than that provided by a devoted and loving family and close friends.

Thank you all. I am able to stay at the hospital in the waiting room. They provide showers, recliners, snacks, coffee and even free eye masks, ear plugs, blankets and pillows so one can sleep. I have been surrounded by family and friends even to the point of having to find a quiet place to hide a little while. DH/Ronnie is improving. The doctor had essentialy reccommended we let him die instead of taking the 20% chance to save his life by surgery but we felt that he would want us to give him the chance to live even impaired. His right side is very weakened just slightly less than paralyzed. The left side is working well. His speach center is affected but till he is no longer on the ventilator we will not really know. He is following some commands but is not able to hold up the number of fingers commanded to so the nurses say that is a sign of impairment. I keep telling them to remember that he is very hard of hearing. Yesterday he was pulling both arms up against the restraints holding them down, squeezed my hand when I ask him to,rubbed his tummy, yawned and looked around. They plan to try to remove the respirator on Monday. I had a little hand sewing to work on but though it gave me comfort, it was one more thing to have to keep up with. There are even small lockers to use but to small for much.
I'm afraid we were not as prepared for this sort of desaster as we needed to be. I realized today that i have only once ever done all the prep to have our taxes prepared and so many other things that I will need to take care of now. I am thankful that there are even computers in this waiting room to use. I can't sleep tonight and need to occupy myself. Thanks for listening to my Whine.

Grandma C,

You will get through this with the love and support of your family and friends. There will be good days and bad. Recovery and rehabilitation after a stroke is a slow process. You must take care of yourself too, because he will need you in the coming weeks. I know that it's hard to leave and go home, but you need to for your own physical and mental health. Please take care of yourself.

Please continue to keep us posted.

Not a whine Belinda--but instead a very real and frightening time. I've faced it myself and no amount of preperation is really enough. Keep pushing his boundries, believe in his capabilities, never let go of the hope that all will  work out--- some how. Take care of yourself, but you know him best, and can best make the descisions that he can't right now.

You are in my mind everyday,

Coopie
