Just about finished with this dress for my friend! Very happy with how it is turning out and with very few alterations. Check it out on my blog: http://purplepincushion.wordpress.com/home-2/

I will try to upload pics. on this site later.

I am so glad I decided to add the ivory banding at the waist. That really made the dress I think.

Love the dress. The ivory bands make it special. I looked at the enlarged picture on your blog and the details show up so much better. Your choice of fabric was perfect for the pattern.

Jennifer,

This is such a lovely dress and I think you've captured the essence of the vintage perfectly!! I can just see my mother wearing something like this when I was just a youngster!!

Really nice. it brings to mind my pretty mom in her 30's dresed for company comming to the house for dinner. She would have worn an apron to protect her dress as she finished the final prep for the meal. She would have had a short curly hairdo that she had rolled in pincurls that morninng. When guests arrived she would have had perfect makeup with Dark red listick and no eyeshadow or liner but perfectly arched eyebrows with just a little eyebrow pencil to make them a bit more pronounced. Oh, and clip on earings/earbobs. Oh and the string of cultured pearls that Dad had given her.
Wish I had the figger for it. It is a great dress and a credit to PMB/WildGinger.

Nice dress. I think flared skirts on dresses are so flattering.

Jennifer, I agree that the Ivory banding at the waist is perfect touch of perfection for the dress.

Kuby, Thank you for the Happy Mothers Day and the same to all the mothers and surogate mothers here.

I miss my Mom, she died at 59yrs, The raveges of smoking killed her. You know, If you watch movies from the earliest through the 70's everyone had to light up to be part of the in crowd. even so she was still beautiful. Daddy called her his pretty girl except when she had her hair in pin curls. Then he called her onion head.
The clothes in those days were sure alot more womanly than many of todays styles.

Thanks for all of the feedback!

When my friend tried it on she was so happy! She actually twirled around the dressing room like a little kid. I could see it written all over her face (the beaming smile gave it away) the she really felt like a beautiful woman. It is such a shame that we have lost beauty and femininity in our most of our clothing. Every woman should feel that beautiful every day.
