Some of you may remember I've been sewing for my son's wedding. The bridal gown, veil and a jacket went to the bride's home town April 1--Hooray! I'll post these after the wedding which is Memorial weekend. I posted my mother's Grandmother of the Groom dress a few months ago, and now here are my dresses. Yes, I made two. The first dress and jacket in purple is a "wearable muslin" to test styling and fit. I will wear it to some other weddings this year. The second, a garnet silk dress over a burnout underskirt, is the dress I plan to wear to the wedding. For more information and several pictures, visit my blog at www.flyingember.com/stitching. But please leave comments here, as I've gotten so many spammed comments to the blog lately I asked my son to turn comments off.

The trial dress is first--I like the dress but not the jacket so much. The second dress is the one I will wear as a long dress for the wedding, but can wear the dress and skirt separately in the future. I want to thank Wild Ginger for including Yardage Calculator in the program. I've been using it a lot lately due to designing with limited amounts of fabric.

Whew! What a lot of scheming and plotting! It was all worth it though. I particlarly liked the purple star. That book and others like it have been on my coffee table for over a year while I wondered where to use these folded shapes.

They are both nice dresses Phyllis. The neckline on the burgandy is extremely flattering. You must be so relieved to be this far along and still have a whole 2 weeks left!

My favorite is the Garnet dress, so very elegant and the color is great on you. The purple one is growing on me and I really like the bolero with the dress and on you. The sleeves give it a more elegance. Wow, you have really been sewing and you bring out the best in Wild Ginger PatternMaster software.

You did a great job designing both dresses. I really enjoyed reading about the process of designing and implementing too. Thanks for posting! You are an inspiration to us all!

Thanks, everyone! You don't need to vote: I'm going to wear the purple dress next weekend at a wedding in Eureka Springs for one of my son's friends. The red dress is my "official" Mother of the Groom dress for the wedding in six weeks and a post-wedding party in our town three weeks later.

Hi, Phyllis! Both dresses are very, very nice but I love the bolero on you due to the flattering angle it creates at the neck edge and the way it showcases the star!!! Post pics after the weddings for us, please!

Both of the dresses are absolutely gorgeous! I particularly love the garnet colored one.

The purple dress is very pretty, but you really knocked it out of the park with your MOG dress!

Thanks. I'm glad I made the "trial dress" and I'm glad I talked myself out of some of my original design ideas. I, too, like the purple dress but really love the red silk dress and skirt. I just hope there is not a heat wave in Minneapolis Memorial weekend!
