I just finished making this. It's made of raw silk with a weave that resembles linen. I used a bemberg lining. The buttons on this are especially special to me. They belonged to my grandmother who's been gone for 48 years. I've admired these buttons for a very long time, but never had a suitable garment to put them on until now.

I tried to adjust my settings to copy a well fitting jacket that I own. That jacket had 3/4" buttons, but with an extended CF which would accommodate 1 1/4" buttons. I don't think that I'll do that again. The wrinkles at the shoulders that you see are from me trying to open it up so that the buttons show. If I button it the wrinkles go away, but I don't plan to wear it buttoned.

I'm so happy that I have a jacket pattern that fits me well. Thanks Wild Ginger!

Jill

Beautiful, Jill. I love your grandmother's buttons. I have special buttons that were my grandmother's also.

Another very stylish jacket Jill and the special buttons are a great addition. You really know how to choose settings and styles that work.

Very nice. Those buttons are special, both in looks and sentiment. I look forward to see future jackets of yours.

The jacket turned out beautiful! What a wonderful idea to keep those buttons. I will have to ask my mother if she has anything like that from my grandma.

That's really BEAUTIFUL, Jill! I LOVE black AND jackets and am always looking for THE one. Remember, beautiful things like those buttons with sentimental meaning are meant to be used. They don't do anyone any good being stashed in a drawer. I know, harder practiced than said, but it's true. And when the jacket wears out/you don't like it anymore, you can re-use the buttons. Your Grandma would be SO proud!
