I'm finally getting around to posting my project from August.  I made a pair of classic shorts with straight legs. They aren't perfect, but they are a big step in the right direction.  I particularly like the cotton twill fabric that has a very smooth finish and doesn't wrinkle easily.

After I made the cute narrow belt loops, I realized I didn't have a narrow belt...I do now.

Oh, yes, and I made the front pockets specifically to accomodate my largish cell phone.  Another advantage to sewing your own clothes!

On to my next pair of pants.

Sue, I love the decorative stitching on the pockets.
Great looking pair of shorts, I hope you have a few more nice days in Iowa to wear them

Also love the decorative stitching. I rarely think to use any of the stitches my machine has.

And happy coincidence, they go with last year's top!

Nice shorts.  Did you do the decorative stitching before or after you applied the pockets?

I did the decorative stitching before I applied the pockets.  Especially since I was experimenting, I wanted to be able to start over if necessary.

They look great on you Sue. I too love the details on the pocket.
Here in Denmark, shorts are out of the question now. We are getting ready to Winter instead

Same here, Berit!  I finished these two months ago, but was slow to get them photographed.  Next I'm on to long pants with a matching jacket! Might be time to move to the southern hemisphere for 6 months.

The shorts are great and the stitching really adds a professional detail to them. Nice work.
