This is a link to a story on a designer who does wheelchair clothing. There have always been a few queries on this topic, so I thought I'd post the link.

The whole concept fascinates me! The designer featured in the article has a website. In looking at the pieces offered, for instance pants, the back and front waist lengths are altered for sitting, and elasticized, etc. I couldn't tell, tho' if there are any pieces that would be more of a "wrap" style--one that would enable a person to sit into them. (Someday I'd like to help someone who needs this kind of altered clothing! That would be a challenge!!)

Thanks for posting this!

I'm with you Laura P. I work in a hospital with an attached nursing home. I would like to form a group of fellow employees to make clothing for the residents.

I looked at the whole web-site, including the videos and found it interesting and inspiring. The woman who is doing this as a business/service for people in wheel-chairs deserves a medal. I have no idea what clothes prices are lie in the US, but to me they looked pretty reasonable.

Hi Christine,
These designs were a pleasant surprise to me, functionally simple but at the same time quite stylish!
I like that she sells via her website as well as her shop in Toronto.
Thanks for sharing this article, very inspiring.

Hi Christine,

Thank you so much for posting the link to this article. Reading it made me both very happy and very sad at the same time.

The designer of the clothing line, Izzy Camilleri, definitely deserves recognition and applause for the work she is doing but I am embarrassed to admit that I have never really given the much thought to how the clothing needs of 'seated clients' can be met in a stylish, comfortable and affordable manner. I guess I just always assumed that fleece jogging pants and sweatshirts were a comfortable personal choice, not an only option.

I think I too will start looking around to see if there is anyone I can assist in some small way with my sewing skills.

Thank you for opening my eyes.

Theresa

That's fantastic! I will send this site to people I know who would be interested.
