If you are a member of stitchers guild, go to Critiques and look at the Burda Dress.

The dress originally was just a print dress.  It was nice.  She then changed it, adding color bands at hem, sleeves and waist - and WOW - what a difference.

It is a great example of how design choices affect how the dress looks on you.

If you don't belong this is a nice forum.

Wow, what a huge difference!  The dress went from a "frock" to "high fashion"!

What a difference! I'm in the process of doing something similar on a print jacket.

Yes, that is a great site. There are lots of inspirational ideas - too many some times. Those folks are very productive!

Thanks for the link, Karen.  That is a very good lesson and something I will keep in mind next time I have a dud.

I have a dud sitting in my cupboard. Walking to work this morning (which is when I do a lot of my thinking) I was getting lots of ideas about how I could revive it after looking at this inspiring project.
