In full disclosure, I have just purchased the software and am trying to learn all the functions (there's a lot!). I've drafted my first simple straight skirt, and want to create a facing instead of a waistband. Here's how I did it, but this seems cumbersome.

1) copied the front and back
2) closed the darts
3) used a line to measure down 2.5" from the waistline
4) Redrew the hips and back seams (couldn't figure out how to just make the lines the 2.5" that I wanted)
5) Redrew the waist
6) Connected my newly re-drawn shorter lines to form the bottom of the facing.

Is there any easier way?

thanks!

If you are using Cameo Pattern Design, then the above steps are how you create a facing. I don't know of any easier way.

You can use mark point on the side seam and center back 2.5 inches down. Use scissors to,cut lines at that point. Delete lines below mark. You might also copy the waist using offset 2.5 inches. Might need some smoothing like the waist.

Thanks for the tips! I've done it a couple of times now and I can do it pretty quickly.... amazing what a little practice does. Loving this program -- so fun!
