When entering fabric, what does Top Selvedge & Bottom mean?

Most woven fabrics have a selvage or tightly woven edge on each lengthwise or long side of the fabric. Frequently when laying patterns on fabrics, you want to avoid laying the fabric into the selvage and so knowing the width of the selvage helps with creating fabric layouts. You can enter the width of the top and bottom selvages for you fabrics as desired.

Sometimes, you need to if they are very wide or would be visible in the finished item.
