Boxers..I don't believe I have ever made a pair of boxers in TM. How much ease does everybody else use for boxers in lightweight woven cotton? I find that for my skinny sons in particular, default ease is too tight through the hips (sometimes using flat crotch shape works better than additional ease, but that's not an option in the Boxer style).
Briefs...I seem to be harping on this issue, but the briefs/bikini briefs don't seem to have any, er, shaping in the CF seam?
Y-front Briefs...any chance of this style being added to TM for crotchety old DHs who complain that nobody makes them the good ole-fashion way any more?

Put it this way...in summer it is so hot that the guys wear boxers as PJs...and round the house. I've protested and threatened till I'm out of breath, so I'm just going to give up and make something that I can stand seeing in the living room all summer!
More to the point, son2 broke his wrist and would like some baggier pants and underpants that are easy to maneuver with one arm.

I've made the boxers from tM and got a good fit, the triangular bit is the centre back, so you just get side seams in this version. Also the running shorts is a good choice as well and you can add the front plackets if you so desire....
Havent tried the briefs yet but agree would be nice to have some shaping in the centre front
and yes anyone thinking of making boxers over the next two weeks could get some valuable advice off malepatternboldness.com...

I was thinking of doing the same but maybe we need a new pattern for leggings. I've got dresshop so may use this to draft long johns instead of TM. Boxers and running shorts on TM are really cool as I got good fit on both patterns

Hi Antony, PMT5 has a tights pattern that looks promising, although I have not used it. However the cut is very simular to one of the pairs of commercial tights. It bears looking into I think! And the update is certanly nominal.

Did acquire TM5 last night. No chance to see the various avail patterns. Did cut out the pieces from the Jalie, now to sew these together for the Monday night open sewing class. Next project would be a simple office jacket. Check to see if TM5 has a suitable pattern, else have a commercial pattern to use. The instructor is not keen on software patterns, but is too hung up on doing it the "old" way. I am nearing 60 but will try something the "new" way.

Its been a while since I,ve posted on here but just a quick one to say I sucessfully made a pair of leggings with the tights pattern. I know Jumala was thinking of making long johns but the tights pattern Patricia suggested is very adequate. I used my measurements with zero ease, and a very narrow ankle and thigh measurements, then compared this to the stretch of the lycra fabric I had (about 80%). I now need to figure out how to make front openings like the rtw ones in the shops and probably will never buy long johns again....I may post the pics at some point but want to make a matching vest or tank up, at the most the will double up as PJ's to wear indoors but am really pleased with the results. oh by the way you get a proper fitting one not like those shop ones that are never quite long enough in my opinion....
